Days are Blessed

Blessed day to you dear Readers, This is the day the Lord hath made I will rejoice and be glad in it. Amen.  What days we live in, I tend to think almost all generations past have said the same. Yet God, his word, never, never change. He is true and faithful always and his word is steadfast, no matter what the physical eye sees. Faith is what we cannot see, but believe God, who does see all, past, present and future and is in control. We must hold fast, cling to, set our face like flint, be strong and of a good courage, and endure to the end. Where awaits, those that are faithful to God the Father, Jesus our Lord and the Holy Spirit, an eternity of being with them forever and ever. Truly our earthly minds cannot grasp the scope of it all, though we do see in scripture a bit of description what awaits us.  My heart says, 'come Lord Jesus.'

Busy days on the farm; awaiting a first time heifer to calf. Speck, she is Elsie's daughter. I have been working with Speck in the stanchion for milking her when time comes. She is still such a baby herself! in the fact that if I put her with Elsie, she still nurses and she is 2 yrs old. And, Elsie lets her. So, needless to say, I have to keep them separated. I do hope Speck gets out of that. Elsie is due the end of June, and is dry now.  We have one steer we are feeding out and still our bull Chaco. Having downsized on the cows has been a blessing.

Garden time is here. We cut the garden in half, from 75x75 to what is half of that "), We have planted English peas and hope to get potatoes in soon. All other items will be planted first of May.

I have several projects awaiting me:  starting up the green house again. I hope to use it as a woman in Ireland uses hers. She has a few fruit trees, grape vines, greens and for starting seedlings of various flowers or shrubs that she will transplant out in her bigger gardens. Her channel is Bealtaine Cottage and her deep focus is permaculture, of which I do feel deeply about,  although she believes and speaks of  'mother earth' of which I do not, but she has great information, is encouraging and I do enjoy all the information she shares of permaculture, what she has done with her 3 acres in 14 yrs, all alone, and is just a very nice lady. I have gotten many ideas from her that I have added to my project list and am in process of doing. I am making a living fence around a new bed area. I am using the water willows we have, they root so very easily. Also, these new beds will cut down on the areas to be mowed. Making new beds, transplanting rootings, seedlings is in my list. I just cut some branches from the weeping willow, about 2 inches round, and am rooting them, and will plant them out this fall. Oh, so many ideas, I enjoy it.

I have been sewing, making a few new aprons for summer. I have winter ones in which the fabric is heavy, and too hot to wear in summer. I finished one, began on the second and have two more. They take me about 3-4 days to complete. A reminder of those who may not know, I sew everything by hand, totally, as I do not use an electric nor treadle machine.

About a month ago I finished the 1000 piece puzzle I was putting together. As this was bought used from a thrift store, one piece was missing, so I traced the empty spot on cardboard and made one to fit and painted it to mesh in with the surrounding. It looks rather well and almost cannot be seen as a replica. I really enjoyed doing this puzzle and look forward to another this upcoming winter.

I took an hour walk about yesterday in the back woods. Absolutely lovely!. Many wild flowers, the creek flowing, and the quiet.

Husband has gone on errands, I have laundry to check on, the kitchen needs tending, egg shells to crush, I mix them in with the chicken feed for the chickens, and some livers to thaw for supper. I think dirty rice is on the menu, mmmm.

The children are doing very well, even in the midst of trying health issues for them, God is faithful and I am very, very thankful. He is good, all the time.

May we seek the Lord while he may be found. The days are short.

In Joy
